Goals

The client engaged with Automation Logic in the hope of obtaining greater operational efficiencies in how they request and fulfil services in the data center. The client embarked on a datacenter automation programme to realise this goal.

The project was split into two sections. Infrastructure as a service [IaaS] ordering and provisioning servers and Platform as a Service [PaaS] ordering and provisioning platforms.

IaaS is aimed at ordering and fulfilling subscription and service requests for servers with operating systems in various configurations. For example, Windows, AIX, Linux, in single instance through to active-active configuration. PaaS is aimed at ordering and fulfilling subscription and service requests for application and platform services.

Outcomes

At the time of leaving the project, quantifiable achievements included an improvement in end-to-end time from request-to-fulfilment, including a dramatic reduction in the amount of effort involved.

Automation Logic learned to recognise the importance of stakeholder management, when rolling off the project it was crucial to leave adequate training in place for the right people to maximise the efficiency of the project.
